Role
My core course, Graphic Design, focused on Danish design as well as comparative studies of Danish & Dutch design. Additionally, I took Textile Design in Scandinavia where I created a textile and wallpaper sample influenced by Scandinavia. For Graphic Design, Assignment 1 was to create 4 posters: 2 on Danish design legend Arne Jacobsen & his iconic egg chair, and 2 on a Dutch design site we would be visiting, mine being the Eye Film Institute in Amsterdam. Assignment 2 was to create a brand redesign for a local bike shop, Cykelfabrikken. My Textile Design assignment was to create a textile and wallpaper sample inspired by Scandinavia.
Results
I routinely presented ideas and progress, gave/received critiques, implemented changes, and advocated for my design choices in both classes. I gained a deep understanding & appreciation for Danish design through research and field studies to design agencies, studios, and textile production facilities.
