Role

As a user myself, I redesigned Rover’s messaging center with my own frustrations with the app in mind as a design challenge.

Results

My design of the messaging center is more user friendly, with the pet sitter/walker’s needs prioritized.

Through my own experience as a dog walker using the Rover app, I noticed some pain points as a user including:

  • not seeing owner and dog names in the same space

  • not understanding the difference between past and archived inboxes

  • not understanding the difference between the main inbox page and the filing page once you click the upper left icon

  • not being able to sort all past messages; sorting being only for pending and upcoming

Current Rover Inbox Design (names and pictures have been changed for privacy)

Rover Redesign

  • all conversations show both dog and owner names

  • one inbox screen with options to sort

  • simplified screens with ample breathing room
